UPDATE: Driver dies in Brighton crash

The driver of a vehicle in a crash in Brighton early Sunday morning died at the scene.

The name of the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, is not being released pending notification of family, said a statement issued Sunday afternoon by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.

From the KCSD media release:

(Sunday morning) at approximately 12:26AM Deputies and Salem Rescue personnel responded to the 24400 block of County Trunk Highway NN for a motor vehicle crash. On arrival Deputies located a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had struck a tree adjacent to a curved section of the roadway at that location.  Unfortunately, the operator and lone occupant of the vehicle was found to be deceased.  The Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. … The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  This crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information on this crash is encouraged to call the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department at 262-605-5100.

UPDATE Oct. 10 — 9:30 a.m. — Identity of victim released.
