The woman driving a car involved in a crash on Highway 142 in Paris Wednesday evening was ejected from her vehicle after it left the highway.

Amanda Schultz, 24, of Union Grove, was transported from the scene by Flight for Life medical transport helicopter.

A Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department accident report says Schultz was eastbound on Highway 142 in about the 18000 block when her vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road onto the southside gravel shoulder. Schultz then over corrected and the vehicle swerved to the north, then back to the south, back to the north onto that shoulder, then south  then north again entering the ditch, ejecting Schultz from the vehicle, which then rolled and landed on its roof on Schultz.

No citations have been issued, the report said.

Paris Fire and Rescue and the Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene. Traffic on Highway 142 was shut down for about an hour.

UPDATE Oct. 25 – Paris Fire Chief Roland Iwen reported at the Paris Town Board meeting on Oct. 25 that Schultz was released from the hospital the next day with no serious injuries. Soft ground due to weather conditions may have been a factor in reducing injury, Iwen said.
