Sky show may have been meteor

People in the region with a view of the sky last night are reporting seeing a strange streak and flash.

Reports are that it may have been a meteorite or perhaps space junk burning up on re-entry into earth’s atmosphere.

Time lapse photos as seen from Madison are available here from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.

Did you see it? What did it look like to you? What did you think it was? Leave a comment.

My husband and I were returning to Twin Lakes from Antioch, IL. We were going over Fox River in Wilmot near Stage Stop when I saw this bright light streak. We were both trying to think was it a firework, a flare? Turned on news this morning to find it may have been a meteor. Was weird and cool looking at the same time.

I saw it. I stepped outside to have a cigarette before heading to bed. I saw what first looked like the landing lights of a plane, then a huge fireball that eventually turned green. After it turned green, it stayed burning for awhile before it looked like what appeared to explode. It remained green for a short time after, then it just looked like a bunch of little fireballs. It did have a slight “exploding” sound to it, which I later learned could have just been sonic booms. It was intresting, thats for sure!! It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!! I am glad I was able to witness it!

Just watch the video link of a small white object desending from the upper righthand side of the screen.

Noticed a second larger white blob with small tail streak enter from the middle right of the screen moving in a flatter horizontal direction that seems to have intercepted the trajectory of the smaller white dot one frame before the white flash. Is quite interesting!

Was sitting at my computer when the house shook and a large BOOM. I jumped up and thought what was that??
Did a neighbors house blow up? I waited and heard no sirens.

This morning at work everyone was talking about the lights and the Boom that shook houses…I felt much better.

I am a former Bristol resident but now live over by the Mississippi River.
