People interested in raising money for two Kenosha County dog parks are invited to attend a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12 in the Hearing Room at the Kenosha County Center, 19600 75th St., Bristol.

“We are receiving a great number of calls and e-mails from people who want to help with the public fund-raising effort,” Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser said. “This meeting will allow those interested to form committees and work together to raise the needed $25,000.”

Kenosha County has pledged $25,000 in non-tax dollars and is seeking a public match of $25,000 to pay for fencing and gating at the two planned off-leash dog parks. Jonathan Rudie, general manager of  Kenosha County Park Operations, recently said about $1,715.41 has been raised so far.

Permanent dog parks are planned at Petrifying Springs Park, near the park entrance at Highway JR, and at the future KD park, 35714 89th St., near Bassett Park in Randall.

Temporary dog parks will be at Old Settlers Park, 24100 75th St., Salem, and Petrifying Springs Park, Area 3, 761 Green Bay Road, Kenosha. The temporary dog parks will be open during regular park hours, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Sunday. There are donation boxes at both of the temporary dog park locations.

Donations can be made by check, made payable to Kenosha County Dog Parks, and can be dropped off or mailed to the Kenosha County Treasurer’s Office, 1010 56th St., Kenosha, WI, 53140, or to the Kenosha County Parks Department, Division of Public Works, 19600 75th St., P.O. Box 549, Bristol, WI, 53104.
