Jonathon Rudie, general manager of park operations for Kenosha County, recently reported on fundraising for the county’s first public dog parks.
So far, about $1,715.41 has been raised, Rudie said in a recent email. The county is looking to raise $25,000 in matching funds to pay for improvements needed at the parks, such as fencing. Fundraising included pet photos with Santa recently held at temporary dog parks set up at Petrifying Springs County Park in Somers and at Old Settlers County Park in Paddock Lake.
A website is also under development to support the dog park effort, Rudie said.
Dog parks are planned for development at Petrifying Springs and at the so-far unnamed county park under development along Highway KD in Wheatland and Randall.
