The men are accused of breaking into the Leydel home in the 23900 block of 60th Street (Highway K) around midnight Tuesday. The group allegedly was looking for drugs and money that they thought would be in the house, Sheriff David Beth said. At some point, Robin Leydel was shot in the chest and he died in the hospital around 4:30 a.m.

While the invaders were still in her house, Robin Leydel’s wife, Susan, called 911 and gave information to a dispatcher about the crime, including identifying Navigato — even spelling his name — a recording of the 911 call shows.

Deputy Joe Zarletti, who was patrolling nearby as the designated Paddock Lake officer that night, responded and saw a car leaving the home’s driveway. After another deputy joined Zarletti, the car was pulled over and the four were taken into custody.

Suchecki, Beeter and Bieker are scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 21. Navigato will have a status conference Oct. 19.
