New fire station/public works garage back on town meeting agenda

Last week there was a special meeting to handle a number of issues regarding moving forward with the construction of a new Salem fire station and public works garage. But salem-town-logowith the results of that meeting being a mixed bag and maybe even a bit confused, the main items have returned to this week’s regular Salem Town Board meeting.

Take a look at the agenda here. Looks like it may be an all-nighter!

The fire station/public works garage would replace current facilities in Trevor. Town officials say both current facilities are out-dated. If the project moves forward soon, it may be eligible for stimulus funding. The project is estimated to cost about $8 million.

There’s also a special meeting Monday starting at 6 p.m., which is likely to be a closed session regarding a personnel matter.

UPDATE Sunday, Aug. 9: The new facility items have been removed from the agenda by town Chairman Linda Valentine. More info here.
