Wayne and Kathleen Messmer sing National Anthem at 2017 Twin Lakes Libertyfest

Wayne Messmer, known for his iconic renditions of the US National Anthem at Chicago sports contests, sang the Star-Spangled Banner Saturday evening at the start of the Aquanuts show that was part of 2017 Twin Lakes Libertyfest.

Messmer sang the anthem as a duet with his wife, Kathleen, and a cappella. Here’s video of the performance:

The Messmers also served as the grand marshals of the Libertyfest parade earlier in the day.

Wayne Messmer explained that he also sang at the opening of Libertyfest last year and was pleased when he was asked to sing again this year, but in the high profile pre-Aquanuts show slot before a standing room only crowd in the amphitheater area. He is very familiar with Twin Lakes because it is the closet place with restaurants and and other services to the couple’s Lake Benedict place.

The annual multi day festival Libertyfest is organized by the Twin Lakes Area Chamber & Business Association.
