July 27, 2016 lake test results: Paddock-Hooker Lake Association beach closed to swimming; all other tested beaches open

The above map shows the location of the Paddock-Hooker Lake Association beach.

The Paddock-Hooker Lake Association beach on Paddock Lake will be closed to swimming after an E.coli test this week at that location showed 2,419 E.coli/100 mL.

Signs announcing the closure will be placed at the beach this morning, said Tim Popanda, Paddock Lake village administrator.

The water at the PHLA beach will be resampled Wednesday.

Other weekly test results for some Western Kenosha County lakes showed E.coli levels below beach warning or closure levels.

Results reported Tuesday, July 19 by Randall were:

  • Randall – Powers Lake 3 E.coli/100 mL

Results reported Wednesday, July 20 by the Kenosha County Health Department were:

  • Salem — Silver Lake County Park, 18 E.coli/100 mL.
  • Paddock Lake — Old Settlers Park, 7 E.coli/100 mL; North Shore Beach Association, 3 E.coli/100 mL; Hoag Beach, 3 E.coli/100 mL.
  • Wheatland — Lilly Lake, 20 E.coli/100 mL.

The State Department of Health recommends posting warnings at beaches when the test results indicate a E.coli level of 300/100ml or more and closing a beach when test results exceed E.coli 1000/100ml. Wheatland (Lilly Lake) has a policy of posting an advisory for a level of E.coli 235/100 mL or more and closing a beach when test results exceed E.coli 1000/100ml.
