Body found along shore of Lilly Lake believed to be missing Wheatland man

The body of a man that had been missing since Monday and who family members had been actively searching for appears to have been found along the shore of Lilly Lake in Wheatland.

A media release from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department says the man appears to be Richard L. Warnke Sr of Wheatland. Positive identification is pending further tests.

On Saturday, May 28th, 2016, at approximately 1315 hours, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Lilly Lake shoreline near a residence in the 7700 block of 334th Avenue, Town of Wheatland, in Kenosha County, regarding a death investigation.   A local resident discovered a person deceased in the water along the shoreline and notified authorities. Kenosha County Deputies and Detectives responded to the scene.  Although positive identification has not yet been made, it appears that the deceased was a 49- year individual named Richard L. Warnke Sr.   Warnke had been listed as missing / endangered earlier in the week after an incident at his residence in the 7800 block of 336th Avenue in which the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies responded for a domestic dispute.   This investigation continues with positive identification of the victim is pending further tests. Medical examiner reports and officer reports are pending.   Notifications of the victim’s family are have been made.
