Winter storm warning issued for Monday

WEATHER-ALERT-logo-all-3-webThe National Weather Service has apparently gotten a little more certain that we will see nasty weather Monday and has issued a winter storm warning for our area.

The warning will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.

The previously issued winter storm watch has been dropped.

The details of what is anticipated in theĀ forecast is similar to what was expected earlier:

Snow and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain before 3 pm, then rain and sleet between 3 pm and 4 pm, then rain, snow, and sleet after 4 pm. High near 35. Windy, with an east wind 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.”

The warning also points out that conditions will be favorable for falling tree limbs and resulting power outages.

The high temperature is expected to reach 35.

UPDATE 8:32 p.m. — Storm warning now to be in effect from 9 a.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.
