Dale Racer, the chief of the Twin Lakes Police Department for the last eight years, will be retiring.

Racer expects his last day as TLPD chief to be July 6.

In an email message to westofthei.com, Racer said:

There is no specific reason for retirement except I’ve been in Law Enforcement for 36 years and want to retire healthy, not being forced to retire because of health issues, want to leave on a good note; always had and still have a close relationship with everyone in Twin Lakes and I want to spend time with the family.  It wasn’t an easy decision.

The village has posted the position on its website and Facebook page.

The TLPD consists of “13 sworn full-time officers, 8 sworn part-time officers, 8 sworn seasonal water patrol officers and a fully staffed Dispatch Center,” the chief posting says.
