A local man died from his injuries from a crash early this morning along Highway 45 in Bristol.

According to a statement released bythe Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department:

Early this morning, at 0150 hrs Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies responded with Village of Bristol Fire and Rescue to a fatal crash on USH 45 North of STH 50. Wisconsin State Patrol also responded to assist with measurements and on scene investigation. A single vehicle was traveling Southbound on USH 45 when the driver lost control of the vehicle in a curve. The vehicle slid sideways into the west ditch and struck a culvert which caused the vehicle to roll multiple times. The vehicle then struck a fire hydrant and utility pole, snapping the utility pole off. The vehicle was occupied by two local men who were on the way home from (a tavern) located at USH 45 and STH 142. One of the occupants sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The other occupant was injured and treated at Aurora Hospital. He was placed under arrest for Homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. That man also received other traffic related citations, as speed appears to have been a factor in the crash. At this time the names of the occupants are being withheld pending notification of the family members. The names will likely be released tomorrow (Monday). USH 45 has remained closed due to the investigation and will likely reopen shortly. WE Energies will be working on scene to replace the utility pole.

UPDATE 11:50 a.m. — Highway 45 now open to traffic. Utility crew still working on pole has right, southbound lane blocked.
