At about 4:15 p.m., Town of Salem Fire/Rescue and Silver Lake Rescue Squad units are responding to the 30500 block of Highway F for a report of a possible natural gas leak.
UPDATE 4:20 p.m. — Highway F is being blocked at Highway FR. Scene also involves a car that is in the ditch. Driver reporting no injuries. We Energies also responding.
UPDATE 6:15 p.m. — Salem Fire Chief Mike Slover said this incident was extended because of the need to get certain personnel from We Energies to the scene due to the nature of the pipes that were struck. Utility officials did not want to accidentally cause a major outage to the west of the scene.
