Units responding for water call on Center Lake; search for swimmer under way

At about 2:56 p.m., Town of Salem Fire/Rescue and county dive team members are responding for a water call on Center Lake.

Per dispatch: A man was swimming about 250 yards out from shore, but now is not visible. Someone is on a boat in the area he was last seen but cannot find the swimmer.

UPDATE 3:01 p.m. — Units staging at northside beach area. Bristol Fire Department responding with a boat.

UPDATE 3:05 p.m. — Silver Lake Fire Department unit responding with a boat.

UPDATE 3:12 p.m. — Salem Public Safety unit responding with a boat.

UPDATE 3:42 p.m. — MABAS Box Alarm activated. Additional units responding from Silver Lake Fire Department, Silver Lake Rescue, Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue and Paris Fire and Rescue.

UPDATE 4:37 p.m. — Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Bill Beth confirms that missing person is a 74-year-old man.

UPDATE 4:48 p.m. — Center Lake commands reports that recovery operations starting.
