First day of spring: Snow and wind chill between -5 and 5

coldman-sxc-Dave-Dyet-webThe calendar may say today is the first day of spring, but the National Weather Service forecast is anything but spring like.

Today’s high temperature should be near 20. Continued strong winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph will give us wind chills between 5 and -5. To add that extra “it’s not spring” touch, there’s an 80 percent chance of snow showers, through less than a half inch of accumulation is expected.

There’s not a lot of relief in the forecast looking ahead either. Highs are not expected to get out of the the 30s through Tuesday and 20-30 percent chances of snow are in the forecast for Saturday night through Tuesday.

Happy first day of spring!
