Old Settlers Oktoberfest will return to Paddock Lake Sept. 22.
Over 3,500 people attended last year at Old Settlers County Park on Highway 50 in Paddock Lke.
Last year’s event was a beautiful day for all ages. You could sit and enjoy the band and or dance. Kids could do Pumpkin Coloring or get their hair braided in German style, enter weiner dog races or just come and watch. There was a car show as well. There were four food vendors as well as the Kiwanis serving the beer tent. There was a raffle and the day ended with amazing fireworks out on Paddock Lake.
“This year we will have the same but we have added more events to the day,” said Heidi Schuerstedt of Heidi’s Bakery and the event’s founder.
The O’berlandlers German dance group will be coming from Milwaukee to perform throughout the day as well as hold adult German games throughout the park.
There will be 5 food vendors this year. Colony House in Trevor, Drifters Bar and Grill in Paddock Lake, Tess’ Market in Camp Lake, Westosha Kiwanis and Heidi’ Bakery in Paddock Lake will be providing delicious food and desserts, from Brats to Schnitzel to Beef Straganoff to Potato Pancakes. Bienenstich, Apple Slices, Plum Cake and Pumpkin Pie Sundaes are some of the other food choices. German Pretzels will available at the food court as well as the beer tent. Old Fashioned root beer will have a separate tent.
Added to the pumpkin and hairbraiding will be some fun games for kids such as Cabbage Bowling, Pretzel Toss, Corn Cob Hunt.
“The weiner dog races were such a big hit last year hosted by County Executive Jim Kreuser we have decided to move them up near the playground area,” Schuerstedt said.
This years raffle has grown to over $8,000 in prizes.
There will be koozies for sale along with Oktoberfest tshirts.
“The Oktoberfest Work Group has worked really hard to make this a wonderful community and family event,” Schuerstedt said. “It is free admission and actually someone could come to this event and spend no money if they want. The Kenosha County Parks does a beautiful job setting up the park with many picnic tables and tents. This years Raffle has over 7000 dollars in cash and prizes.
Old Settlers Oktoberfest will take place from noon until 8 p.m.
Raffle tickets can be purchased at Heidi’s Bakery, Tom Paddock State Farm, Bear Realty and Tess Market before the Oktoberfest event.
Primary sponsors are Heidi’s Bakery, Kenosha County Parks and Westosha Kiwanis Club and County Executive Jim Kreuser.
