At about 8:30 p.m., Salem Fire/Rescue and sheriff’s deputies are responding to a report of a crash in the 28600 block of Highway C, Wilmot.
Dispatch reports that a car hit a pole. Someone may have been seen fleeing the scene.
Power is out in the area and We Energies also is responding. Traffic on Highway C being blocked by deputies.
UPDATE 8:55 p.m. — No eastbound traffic being allowed through on Highway C.

Must have been one hell of an accident, the road is still being blocked as of 1:41 AM
And the power over at Valmar didnt return til about 2:30 this morning.
Incredible, the negative impact that one person had on a lot of people!
Dark homes on their Sunday evening. Cold, dark homes, with worry of flooding lower levels, knowledge that the alarm clock will be set wrong, worry that pipes will freeze and just the overall removal of the comfort that electricity brings to a home.
Wondering abut the utility plant operations and all the people called out to work to fix
the mess that someone caused! There should be some method of obtaining the costs.
The reason the road was closed and power out until 2:30 am was because the utility pole had to be replaced after the car was removed from it. The lower half of the pole was embedded in the car to the windshield. The upper half of the pole where it broke in two was still attached to and hanging from the wires. As bad as that car looked it’s a surprise the driver was able to get out and away without being found. Extra blankets on the bed Sunday night.
