Search party being formed for missing man

A search party is being organized for Saturday morning to look for a Genoa City man whose car was found unattended in Silver Lake County Park Tuesday.

People interested in helping search for Roger Baker are asked to meet at Silver Lake Park at the parking area for the beach at 9 a.m. Those participating will break into groups and search for Baker or any clues  as to his whereabouts.

Law enforcement efforts to locate Baker were unsuccessful, said Allen Dunski, one of the organizers of the search effort.

Donations of coffee or food for the searchers also are welcome, Dunski said.

If you have any information to share or have questions about the search effort contact Dunski at 262-770-2441.

UPDATE 8:08 p.m. — From Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Bill Beth:

On 12-21-11 at 12:26 AM Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies checked on a vehicle left in Silver Lake Park area six (by the beach). This vehicle is a blue Dodge Intrepid with Wisconsin plates. The vehicle is registered to Roger Baker (33 years old) with an address in Genoa City. Deputies were unable to locate a contact number for the registered owner, so the vehicle was locked in the park as is standard procedure when vehicles are left in the park. The vehicle was again checked on the following night. On 12-22-11 at 11:22 PM Deputies once again checked on the vehicle. Deputies contacted The Genoa City Police Department and asked them to send a squad to Baker’s address in order to check on why his car had been in the park for so long. Genoa City Police Officers contacted the family of Baker, who reported that no one had seen him since he left work on Monday, 12-19 and they were now very concerned for his welfare. The family reports that Baker has been depressed recently. Kenosha Sheriff’s Deputies then conducted a search of Silver Lake Park trails, but were unable to locate Baker. Today during the daylight hours deputies, detectives, a K-9 team and Baker family members returned to Silver Lake Park and once again searched the area, but were unable to locate Baker. Genoa City has filed a missing persons report on Baker and sent an attempt to locate message out to Southeast Wisconsin and Northern Illinois law enforcement agencies. The Kenosha Sheriff’s Department is aware that Baker’s family is organizing a search of the area again tomorrow. While we do feel that the area has been searched well, KSD will assist the family in any way that we can.”
