A 15-year-old boy who was found underwater at a paintball park in Trevor Saturday died at Children’s Hospital, Milwaukee, the Sheriff’s Department is reporting.
The teen, a resident of Harvey, Illinois, was swimming with a group when a lifeguard at the facility in the 29000 block of Highway C (Wilmot Road) noticed that his count of indivuduals in the water was one short. As the lifeguard began to search for the missing person, one of the other group members stepped on someone who was already underwater. The group members and the lifeguard immediately drug the subject, a 15-year-old boy, out of the water, where the lifeguard and the owner of the facility began performing CPR. Salem Fire/Rescue arrived and continued life saving measures while the boy was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital.
The teen was later transferred to Children’s but further lifesaving measures failed and he was pronounced dead at 5:50 this monring, a Sheriff’s Department statement said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Milwaukee at a time that is yet to be determined. The investigation as to how and why the boy may have gone underwater is ongoing, the statement said.
The teen’s name has not been released by the Sheriff’s Department.
