The man at the center of a six-hour man hunt in Salem last June has been sentenced to two years in prison, court records show.
Howard Boss plead guilty to felony possession of a firearm in connection with the June 15 incident. On that day, Wheatland Constable Bob Haas had pulled Boss over for a traffic stop in Salem. Boss fled the scene. Haas said he saw Boss point what he thought was a gun at him and Haas fired some shots in Boss’ direction.
The Sheriff’s Department then mounted an extensive effort to find Boss, bringing in equipment and manpower from neighboring counties, but was unsuccessful in finding him. Boss later turned himself in in Wood County.
