Units responding to serious crash on Highway 50 at Highway W

At 6:57 p.m., rescue units and deputies are responding to a report of crash with injuries on Highway 50 east of Highway W.

UPDATE 6:58 p.m. — Medical personnel on scene reports that injuries are serious and requests Flight for Life medical helicopter be sent to scene. Crash may have been head-on.

UPDATE 7:01 p.m. — Town of Wheatland Fire Department personnel being dispatched to the scene. Landing zone for helicopter being set-up at Wheatland Fire Station.

UPDATE 7:03 p.m. — Traffic not being shut down for now as vehicles are north of Highway 50. But deputies will have to shut down traffic later for investigation.

UPDATE 7:04 p.m. — Salem Fire/Rescue being dispatched for rescue mutual aid.

UPDATE 7:06 p.m. — One patient has a severe head injury and no pulse, dispatch reports.

UPDATE 7:11 p.m. — Flight for Life being cancelled.

UPDATE 7:12 p.m. — Twin Lakes Rescue being dispatched for rescue mutual aid. Silver Lake Rescue was original responding rescue unit.

UPDATE 7:26 p.m. — All westbound traffic on Highway 50 being shut down at 317th Avenue to facilitate investigation.

UPDATE at 7:31 p.m. — Paris Rescue being dispatched stand-by in quarters for Wheatland and Silver Lake calls.

UPDATE 9:39 p.m. — Westbound traffic now being shutdown at Highway B. All fire department units earlier had returned to quarters.

UPDATE 2:49 p.m. — WDJT-TV CBS in Milwaukee is reporting that one person died in this crash.
