Lake County Coroner says firefighter who died in crash had blood alcohol level over limit

The Daily Herald’s website is reporting that Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said Eric Norden’s blood-alcohol level at the time of his fatal crash on Saturday was .21 percent, over the legal threshold of .08 percent.

Norden, 30, died in a single vehicle crash at about 4 a.m. Saturday morning just south of the state line when the vehicle he was driving struck a utility pole.

Norden was a full-time Salem firefighter/paramedic. He also was a member of other area departments, including Antioch and Silver Lake Rescue. He was honored by family, friends and colleagues at two impromptu ceremonies at the Kenosha County Fair Saturday just hours after the crash.
