Here is some additional information released by the Twin Lakes Police Department about the search for a man who went missing after entering Lake Elizabeth in Twin Lakes Thursday evening:

On Thursday, July 22, 2010 at approximately 5:04 p.m. Kenosha County Joint Services and the Twin Lakes Police Department received a 9-1-1 call for assistance from a boater on Lake Elizabeth.

The caller reported that a male friend had jumped into the lake from their boat to assist a female friend who had fallen off a water inner tube. The caller further stated that because of strong winds and high waves, the pair began drifting away from one another.

Both the caller and several witnesses on the lake observed the male subject having difficulty staying afloat as he was not wearing a personal flotation device. Witnesses attempted to reach him but were hampered by strong winds. The witnesses eventually lost sight of the male subject. He was presumed to have gone under the surface.

Police and Fire personnel immediately responded to the area and began search and rescue operations. Numerous Fire Departments from Wisconsin and Illinois, along with dive teams and sonar teams, responded to assist.

After an unsuccessful vigorous and coordinated search effort by the Fire Department Rescue Boats and the Police Boat in attempting to locate the male subject, the dive teams and sonar team began recovery operations.

Due to the weather and darkness, the recovery operation was suspended until dawn Friday morning.
