Here’s some additional information released by the Sheriff’s Department regarding a crash last night involving a van and a Sheriff’s Department squad.

Last night (7/22) at about 10:31 p.m. a Kenosha sheriff’s Deputy was involved in an injury accident. The deputy was operating an unmarked squad when she was struck by a van at the intersection of Highway P and Highway Z. Initial reports indicate that the operator of the van attempted to leave the area. The van then ended up crashing into a ditch in the 9400 block of 401 Avenue. The van driver, a 41-year-old man from Genoa City, was detained on suspicion of causing injury by operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The deputy sustained a minor injury during the initial collision. She was transported to a local hospital where she was later treated and released. The suspect reported no injury.

Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the accident.
