Efforts to capture Howard Boss, who police say was armed and fled a traffic stop on Highway 50 in Salem Tuesday leading to a six-hour active man hunt, continue. This afternoon, a warrant for his arrest on three charges was signed by Circuit Court Judge Anthony G. Milisauskas.
The perimeter that the Sheriff’s Department had been maintaining around the scene of the traffic stop has been pulled, but marked and unmarked Sheriff’s Department units are still searching for Boss, said Sgt. Gil Benn, Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
“Detectives are following up on leads and interviewing a witness today,” Benn said.
The warrant alleges Boss committed the following crimes:
- Intentionally pointing a firearm at a law enforcement officer.
- Obstructing a law enforcement officer.
- Possession of a firearm by a felon.
Though he may have a gun, Sheriff David Beth said yesterday that Boss is not believed to be a threat to take a hostage.
