Former Silver Lake leader faces sexual assault charges

Former Silver Lake village President Ronald C. Wieland has been charged with two counts of second degree sexual assault of a child, court records show.

Wieland is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing tomorrow in Kenosha before court Commissioner Carl Greco.

Silver Lake police Chief Daniel Kingsley said Wieland was arrested last week in Silver Lake, where Wieland still lives.

Wieland is out of jail on bond, Kingsley said.

One of the charges relates to an alleged incident from 2005; the other charge relates to a recent incident, court records show.

If anyone has information about contact with Wieland they are encouraged to contact the Silver Lake Police Department or Sheriff’s Department Detective Dave Smith, Kingsley said.

Wieland was village president from 1979 to 1983. He also was a part-time officer in the village police department during the 1970s, Kingsley said.
