Silver Lake Fourth of July fun this weekend

slfd-truck-with-bannerThe Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the newly formed Silver Lake Area Chamber of Commerce are collaborating on a weekend of Fourth of July fun this year.

The two groups have lined up music, raffles, games, food, beverages, kids activities, eating contests, a rubber duck race on the Fox River and  more at the annual Fireman’s Festival on Friday July 3, and Saturday July 4 at Schmalfeldt Park in Silver Lake.

Here’s the line-up of activities (Note: UPDATED Friday with addtional info):

Friday

  • 6 p.m. — Food and beer sales open; registration for BAGGO tournament begins; live DJ until 10 p.m.

Saturday

  • All day — Kids games by Community Baptist Church. Motorcycle, muscle cars and antique farm equipment show. Flea market, crafters, farm market all day.
  • 11 a.m. — Grounds open; opening remarks and history presentation by Linda Valentine.
  • 11:30 a.m. — Guitar Styling by Jim Walski, local musician, live on stage.
  • Noon — Fire department water fight registration; martial arts demonstration on stage.
  • 12:30 p.m. – Fire department water fights begin; Gloria Davis, author / historian on stage.
  • 1 p.m. — Gloria Davis – historian/author will be speaking.
  • 1:30 p.m. — Spaghetti eating contest – Hosted by Taste of Italy restaurant.
  • 2 p.m. —  Pet parade sponsored by Scully’s Silver Lake Grill.
  • 2:30 p.m. — Elvis Presley- The King of Rock will be coming back.
  • 3 p.m. — Businessmen water fight registration; Live music by “Never Xisted.”
  • 3:30 p.m. — Businessmen water fights begin.
  • 3;30 p.m. — The band “The Affordtables” will be performing.
  • 5 p.m. — Duck races on the Fox River.
  • 7 p.m. — Live Music by “Chasing Amy.”
  • 9 p.m. —  Raffle Drawing. Raffle prizes include: Kalahari suite for two nights in Wisconsin Dells; Half day Lake Michigan fishing trip for four; Grand Geneva Champagne brunch for four.
