Silver Lake County Park beach has been closed due to a test showing elevated E. coli levels considered unsafe for swimming, the county has announced.
The sample was taken today. It showed a result of 2,419 colonies present. A result of 800 colonies puts a swimming beach on alert and a count of or over 1,200 colonies orders a beach closing.
The beach area will remain open for sunbathing and picnicking. The swim area will remain closed and posted. No fee will be charged to visit the beach until swimming is again safe.
The beach at Old Settlers Park in Paddock Lake is open and has tested OK.
