Kenosha County Emergency Management, in conjunction with members of the first responder community, will be conducting a full-scale, mass casualty, hospital evacuation exercise on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Pleasant Prairie.

The exercise will start off with a hazardous materials scenario, which will turn into a mass casualty event and the mock evacuation of St. Catherine’s Hospital. Over 60 agencies consisting of over 500 people from Southeastern Wisconsin and northeast Illinois will be participating in the exercise. Exercise goals include:

  • Multi-state coordination.
  • HazMat identification and response.
  • Confined-space/collapse rescue.
  • Mass-casualty triage and transportation.
  • Mock hospital evacuation and relocation.

Citizens are asked to avoid the area so that first responders can achieve the most benefit from the exercise. All services at St. Catherine’s Hospital/Clinic will remain open throughout the exercise.
