A mother was arrested in Twin Lakes Saturday for leaving two children in a car where the temperature was over 100 degrees.

From the Twin Lakes Police Department press release:

On Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 12:22PM officers responded to check the welfare of two infants sitting in an unattended vehicle parked in a parking lot 300 block of North Lake Avenue.

“Upon officer’s arrival, they located a 2-year-old girl and her one-week-old brother sitting in a vehicle with the windows partially opened and officers also observed that the vehicle was parked in sun. The officers were able to gain entry to the vehicle to retrieve the children, who were conscious, breathing and unscathed by the situation. The internal temperature of the vehicle registered at 103 degrees.

“The officers located the 24-year-old Racine mother who left the infants in the vehicle while she was at a tanning salon in the area.

“The mother was summarily arrested for two counts of Reckless Endangering Safety. The children’s father was brought to the scene and took custody of the two children.

“Charges will be reviewed by the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office.”
