Central boys volleyball wows fans with win over Franklin

The assembled Falcon fans had one word after the match tonight…..WOW!! In an intense, exciting, emotional High School boys volleyball match, the Central Falcons went to Franklin and won in exciting fashion 3-1. After a lackluster weekend showing by the Falcons, they came out ready to play Monday night.

The first set was an intense seesaw battle that sawthe host Sabers succumb to the Falcons 30-28. The Falcons started out slowly in the second set and lost a tough battle 25-22. In the third set the Falcons started out slowly again but took control and won the critical game, 25-18. In the fourth and final set, the Falcons were led by Mike Michelau by blocking the much taller Sabers on 3 consecutive and 4 out of 5 points to move to a commanding lead. The Falcons closed out the night with a 25-17 win.

“The guys were great tonight,” said Coach Wayne Schultz. “They did everything it takes to be successful. Dayton Erickson, (CoCaptain), set the tone starting with warm ups tonight. He came ready to play and lead and it showed.”

The Falcons move into first place alone at 4-0 and face the Racine Case Eagles on Thursday. The Sabers move to 3-1 in conference and face Burlington on Thursday.
