UPDATE: Van driver dies in Friday morning crash

The driver of a van that struck the rear of a school bus this morning in Trevor died as a result of their injuries, a statement from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department said.

Here is a statement released by the Sheriff’s Department at about 8:45 a.m.:

At this time Deputies and the Salem Fire Department are at the scene of a crash involving a van and a school bus in the 24500 block of Wilmot Road. Preliminary investigation determined the westbound bus, which was transporting students to Westosha Central High School, was stopped at that location.  The van which was also westbound struck the rear of the bus. Highway C is closed between Highway 83 and 258th Avenue both east and westbound and will remain closed as the investigation continues. Two students were transported from the scene to the hospital for minor injuries.  The remaining students were transported to the Trevor Fire Department to be released to school officials and parents. The operator of the van involved is deceased.

You are right Ryan. Our Salem Fire and Rescue work very hard to teach these lessons. I also know the KSD Deputy Friendly teaches the same lessons. Thanks God we have these high quality folks protecting us.
