Twin Lakes police officers arrested a burglary suspect — who may have been involved in break-ins at other business — at the scene of a burglary early this morning.
On Saturday, at 3:14 a.m, a citizen witness called “911†to report of a burglary in progress at the tavern in the 1200 block of North Lake Avenue, a Twin Lakes Police Department press release said.

Officers Joe Balog and Jeff Kreft responded and upon their arrival observed that the side door to the tavern was forced open. The officers requested the assistance of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department for containment. When officers made entry into the building, the suspect attempted to exit the rear door of the tavern however when he observed the deputies outside of the rear door he immediately ran back into the building. Officers located the suspect hiding in one of the tavern bathrooms and he was taken into custody without incident. Further search of building for additional suspects proved negative. Officers observed coin boxes on several gaming and amusement machines pried open and also recovered burglary tools hidden by the suspect.
During the investigation by the officers and Detective Sgt. Dennis Linn, proceeds from another burglary that occurred approximately an hour earlier at the a business in the 300 block of East Main Street were located and linked to the same suspect.
In checking the suspect’s residence, items taken from a burglary that occurred on Dec. 6, at another Twin Lakes business was recovered.
The suspect arrested, a 41-year-old resident of Twin Lakes, has been a “person of interest†in several other burglaries, attempted burglaries, and entry to locked vehicles that had occurred within the past three months in Twin Lakes, said Chief Dale Racer. Evidence recovered from those incidents had been submitted to the Wisconsin State Crime Lab for processing.
The suspect is being held in the Kenosha County Jail awaiting charges by the District Attorney’s Office.
“If it were not for the call from the citizen witness, the quick response of the police officers and the assistance of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, this suspect would have continued victimizing businesses and residences here in Twin Lakes,” Racer said.
